A face of the luxury industry for over three decades, Helena Christensen perfectly typifies the social responsibility of Mercedes-Benz, by demonstrating the importance of wearing a mask at the Copenhagen Fashion Week SS21, and how they can even be elevated to a piece of iconic design. Both parties want to make a stand on the importance of wearing face coverings, and to do so in a suitably creative way.

“We at Mercedes-Benz are very aware of our social responsibility to show attitude and act as role model especially in difficult times. As a leading luxury brand we are delighted to implement this in partnership with Helena – one of the most iconic faces in fashion”, said Bettina Haussmann, Head of Mercedes-Benz Branded Entertainment.
Mercedes-Benz Denmark’s long standing relationship with Copenhagen Fashion Week can be traced back to 2009, when Mercedes-Benz began facilitating shared fashion show locations for several designers each season. More recently, Mercedes-Benz has focused on collaborating with one designer in a more in depth capacity, often to create engaging social media content and impactful visuals around their show or event. Recent partnerships include the likes of Danish Designer Soeren Le Schmidt. On the 10th August 2020, Mercedes-Benz co-hosted the opening reception of much loved fashion brand GANNI’s 202020 exhibition, which brought together clothing, art, discussion and performance for an immersive and collaborative brand experience. Mercedes-Benz also highlighted Copenhagen Fashion Week’s commitment to sustainability by using branded electric and hybrid vehicles to transport VIP guests between events, along with providing shuttle service at the GANNI opening reception.

As one of the most talented and trailblazing figures on the international fashion scene, Norwegian-born Peter Dundas will present his debut collection at Mercedes-Benz China Fashion Week, a move which further enhances the reputation and significance of China’s growing importance in the global fashion industry and the fashion platform itself. Through the International Designer Exchange Program, Mercedes-Benz has cemented its commitment to nurturing emerging and established designers, by providing them with the unrivalled opportunity to access key international markets.
The inclusion of Peter Dundas at Mercedes-Benz China Fashion Week, with his undeniable fashion pedigree, is pivotal in the event’s continued growth and significance. The platform was established in 1997 and in partnership with Mercedes-Benz since 2011; the biannual showcase of contemporary Chinese design has evolved into an unmissable event on the international fashion calendar. Thanks to the luxury automobile manufacturer’s support and initiatives such as the International Designer Exchange Program, a spotlight is shone on the thriving fashion scene in China at what is a time of unprecedented global interest in the region.
After moving to the US with his family at the age of 14, Peter’s path into design began at Parsons a fashion, art and design school in New York before moving to Paris, where he became an assistant to Jean Paul Gaultier in 1992. Eight years later, he moved to Christian Lacroix where he remained for two years before arriving at Roberto Cavalli. That would prove the catalyst for a storied decade-long career at the helm of Emanuel Ungaro, Emilio Pucci and Roberto Cavalli. Having successfully revitalised these three iconic brands, earlier this year Peter, alongside his partner Evangelo Bousis, launched the much anticipated label DUNDAS. In his life as in his art, Peter does not do things by half measures – his collection made a grandstand debut on Beyoncé Knowles at the 2017 Grammy Awards, and then by Emily Ratajkowski at the Cannes Film Festival. It is testament to Peter’s flair and craftsmanship that his dresses have long been some of the most sought-after on the red carpet.
Dundas sketches prolifically, working in a very instinctive and intuitive manner, which bears itself out in the fluidity of his designs. Throughout his career, his aesthetic has pivoted around the trinity of freedom, sensuality and rebelliousness, giving his creations a playful yet inherently seductive femininity, adding emphasis to his dedication to a vision of the modern woman as someone with unfettered license for self-expression. The DUNDAS brand will carry these unmistakable hallmarks – embellishment, luxury, sensuality, and above all a celebration of women.
Never afraid to blaze his own trail, the DUNDAS label has been conceived around a non-seasonal structure; instead of offering up to four runway shows following fashion’s traditional seasonal structure, the DUNDAS collection will be released strategically and succinctly, in carefully-timed drops to coincide with the demands of clientele. Presenting this new format at Mercedes-Benz China Fashion Week speaks volumes about the rapidly changing ways that luxury fashion is now being consumed by an increasingly global audience. Avoiding the traditional Spring/Summer, Fall/Winter fashion axis, the collection can speak to a truly global consumer – it is modern, reflecting both the demands of the globalisation of the fashion industry, and the key importance of travel in the contemporary luxury lifestyle.
Uniqueness, individuality, made-to-measure elements, and the idea of a designer retailing direct to their clientele via online channels ideologically connects to this new business model for ready-to-wear. It is a modern proposition – about closeness between creativity and commerce, about freedom from restraints and about satisfying women’s needs. Certain items from the collection will be offered custom-made; others are high-end ready-to-wear.
The DUNDAS collection will partner with key retailers to offer capsule collections, as well as retailing direct online. The first partnership, with Moda Operandi, launched the debut DUNDAS collection in July this year. The collection is also available from The Webster (Miami), Bergdof Goodman (New York), Elyse Walker (Los Angeles), Matches (UK), AZEL (Russia) and Moda Boutique. Moda Operandi will also exclusively launch the accessibly-priced collection, created to complement the debut collection in early December for pre order.
Top model Amber Valletta, her son Auden McCaw and the Concept EQ are the focus of the third and last chapter of the #mbcollective Fashion Story from Mercedes-Benz. #mbcollective Fashion Story 2017 Chapter Three; Amber Valletta and the Concept EQ
The #mbcollective Fashion showcases Generation Now celebrities who, through their mentorship of the “Generation Next,” transport important social values into the future. Top fashion model and actress Amber Valletta supports climate protection and animal conservation, and conveys the belief in sustainability to her son Auden McCaw. They follow in the footsteps of Chapter One talent, musicians M.I.A and Tommy Genesis, debuted in London in March 2017, and Chapter Two protagonists, actress Susan Sarandon and humanitarian filmmaker Bryn Mooser of RYOT, unveiled at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in July 2017.
The Mercedes-Benz Concept EQ stands for emotion and intelligence and shows what the future of electric mobility can look like: sporty, elegant, intelligent and sustainable. These Mercedes-Benz brand values are illustrated in Chapter Three of the #mbcollective Fashion Story.
Amber Valletta rose to fame as a top model in the 1990s and later made a name for herself as an actress as well. American-born Valletta has graced countless magazines – including 16 Vogue UScovers – and has been the face of fashion designers Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Valentino and Versace. In her own words, she is a child of the Mid-West and feels at her best and most comfortable in natural surroundings. Since activism was practically handed down to her in her cradle, she has long advocated conservation and sustainability. As co-founder of A Squared Films she participated in the short documentary series “Driving fashion Forward”, focusing on the topic of sustainability and fashion. She is an ambassador for the Sierra Club Animal and Climate Protection Movement and, together with the online shop Yoox, she has founded her own fashion label for sustainable fashion, Master & Muse.
Auden McCaw is 16 years old and attends high school in Los Angeles. He is a passionate volleyball player and participated in the Youth Olympic Games with his team last summer. He is enthusiastic about art and design and has already been featured in fashion shoots by famous photographers such as Steven Meisel and Steven Klein. Like his mother, he is very concerned about the preservation of the planet and is actively involved in its protection.
“Chapter Three with Amber Valletta and Auden McCaw is a wonderful conclusion for the first year of our new Fashion Format, which no longer follows the traditional fashion seasons and through which we have found a pioneering means of communication with our audiences all around the world”, says Michael Bock, Head of Sports and Lifestyle Marketing of Mercedes-Benz Cars. “For all three chapters with the Concept EQ, we were able to engage celebrities who represent the Generation Now, Generation Next theme as well as communicating our brand values. Musicians M.I.A. and Tommy Genesis touched on the topic of Connectivity, actress Susan Sarandon and filmmaker Bryn Mooser embodied Emotion, while Amber Valletta and Auden McCaw stand for Intelligence. Luke Gilford has translated these three stages of a relationship into images that speak for themselves. With the #mbcollective, we have also raised our long-standing fashion commitment to a new level, in line with the current Zeitgeist, placing the focus on personal independence.
Filmmaker Luke Gilford sets the scene for all three chapters of the Fashion Story at the Wright Ranch in Santa Monica. The location, which belongs to Eric Lloyd Wright (grandson of legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright), high up in the mountains above Malibu Pier, offers the most varied light ambiences from sunrise to sunset. Chapter Three was created in the soft, slightly hazy late-afternoon light. Thanks to this and the green and blue tones of the landscape the motifs radiate a feeling of placid intimacy.
The world-wide promotion of gifted young design talents to which Mercedes-Benz has pledged its support for many years now and which, in 2017, has moved to the very centre of its fashion commitment, features predominantly in the Fashion Story. All six protagonists wear creations of young designers such as William Fan, Steven Tai, Ran Fan or Anna October, who have all beensupported by the International Designer Exchange Program (IDEP).
Coinciding with the unveiling of Chapter Three and at Mercedes-Benz’ invitation, South Korean up-and-coming designer and winner of the 2017 International Fashion Showcase, Younchan Chung will show the latest collection of his label “the-sirius” at Milan S/S 2018 Moda Donna.Amber Valletta, as a member of #mbcollective, will attend the show in support of the designer.
The Concept EQ is a forerunner of the new Mercedes-Benz electro-mobility product and technology brand. EQ stands for “Electric Intelligence” and will, in the future, represent a comprehensive electric ecosystem of products, services, technologies and innovations within Mercedes-Benz. The Concept EQ study shows how the CASE campaigns strategic pillars can be implemented in a product: Connected, Autonomous, Shared und Electric. The sporty SUV Coupé speaks a new design language and is designed, both external and internally, with maximum user friendliness and accessability in mind.
In the 70’s we had bell bottoms and platform shoes, in the 80’s, those of us that could, grew out our hair and wore fingerless gloves, the 90’s we went from unwashed grunge to baggy hip hop. Ever wonder who creates these trends, both good and bad, and what’s next for fashion? Many of our future looks will start here, at New York Fashion Week. The semi-annual New York Fashion Week, which was branded Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek in 2009 and held in February and September of each year in New York City is one of four major fashion weeks held around the world. Other fashion powerhouses include Paris, London, and Milan.
This year, Mercedes-Benz and WGSN, a leading fashion forecaster, are collaborating on a display at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center that hones in on the hottest street style looks from well-known designers and savvy tastemakers.
The lobby of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will take-on the role of curator. More specifically, one of the vehicle displays featuring the new 2013 GLK, the smallest in the Mercedes-Benz SUV line-up, will be surrounded by fashion designs and looks that are street style inspired. These spring/summer 2013 fashion accessories; including hats, bags, and shoes, from designers such as Jil Sander to Maison Martin Margiela, were handpicked by a community of fashion insiders at WGSN.

These accessory trends are placed alongside the new 2013 GLK, which features its own bold styling persona that’s set in an agile, compact package. The redesigned interior and modifications of the GLK’s exterior for 2013 create a muscular yet elegant body that’s ready for adventure, a market trend that is permeating the fashion industry in many modes.
“2012’s sporting events, led by the Olympics, have pushed sports styling to the forefront,” says Maren Hartman, WGSN Content Director. “Sports influences like neon brights and active-inspired fabric directions are driving product areas, from footwear and accessories to tailored or party looks. The emergence of sports-inspired trends suggests a move towards the active, ‘on-the-go’ consumer.”

The accessories, fabrics and color schemes chosen for the display are items that detail many of the fashion looks on the cutting-edge of both street fashion and broader design themes playing out within the industry. According to WGSN, one of the key accessory trends highlighted in the display is the sneaker sport wedge. Wedge sneakers remain a popular footwear choice, fusing classic sports silhouettes with the latest fashion-forward updates. Sports hybrid designs will remain popular worldwide as a key footwear silhouette. Some of the other top trends included in the report for spring/summer 2013 include: the sun visor, clip belt, balloon backpack and strappy adventure sandal.
Visit the GLK display in the main lobby of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to see the installation featuring all of the spring/summer 2013 trends.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is just around the corner, and to kick off our coverage, we are going to talk about the most recent Mercedes-Benz Presents recipient, Naeem Khan.
Many of the world’s most stylish women are devotees to Naeem Khan, one of the biggest names in fashion. Always committed to adorning elegant women in clothes befitting their refinement, his glittering fan base of starlets and socialites includes Beyonce, Penelope Cruz, Lea Michele, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Carrie Underwood, Florence Welch, Eva Longoria, Emily Blunt, First Lady Michelle Obama and Queen Noor of Jordan, and his designs have graced the silver screen in fashion film classics like Sex & the City and Dreamgirls.
“The admiration we have for Naeem Khan’s designs and his exceptional reputation throughout the fashion industry make him the ideal ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ designer,” said Lisa Holladay, manager of brand experience marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA. “His highly-crafted embroidered pieces and breathtaking gowns that grace the runways of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week are expressions of his precision and expertise, and we are thrilled to support his show this season.”
“As a lifetime Mercedes-Benz owner, the honor of being chosen as the ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ designer has a very special meaning to me,” says Naeem Khan. “I am thrilled to receive this accolade from a brand that shares the same passion for innovative design and quality craftsmanship that I do.”
In its ninth year, the “Mercedes-Benz Presents” program continues to create unique experiences that tie fashion and automobile design together while supporting the growing needs of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week designers. Each season, a designer is chosen that demonstrates an unparalleled talent and a dedication to the use of quality materials, unique style and innovative design, all characteristics that define the three-pointed star. Khan joins a prestigious list of past “Mercedes-Benz Presents” designers including Carolina Herrera, Monique Lhuillier, Badgley Mischka, Narciso Rodriguez, and CHADO Ralph Rucci.
As part of the Presents program, Mercedes-Benz is featuring a display in the lobby of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week showcasing two examples of superb craftsmanship and design: pieces from the Naeem Khan collection and the 2012 ML63 AMG SUV. Just as a fashion designer creates haute couture works of art, Mercedes-Benz creates one-of-a-kind bespoke vehicles out of the highest-quality paints, leathers and trims. The ML63 AMG on display is the ideal example showcasing the perfect combination of pure performance and chic design roaring with 518 horsepower hand-built engine and an ultra luxe leather interior, featuring hand sewn cross-stitching as well as an optional carbon fiber engine cover and red brake calipers, making this vehicle a fascinating fashion statement.
The display will also be the backdrop for an exclusive invite-only Fashion’s Night In event on Thursday, February 9th, to kick off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Invited guests will take part in a Mercedes-Benz DIY Style Studio to make their own bespoke fashion accessories out of luxe vehicle materials. Naeem Khan will make a special appearance along with event hosts, Nicola Ehrenberg-Uhlig, Head of Conceptual Design Team Color & Trim for Mercedes-Benz, Erica Domesek of P.S. I made this… and accessories designer Paige Novick.
The Naeem Khan runway show is being held on Tuesday, February 14th at 2pm in the Theatre.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is taking place in New York City at Lincoln Center from February 9-16, 2012 with more than 80 designers presenting their Fall 2012 collections including Naeem Khan, Diane von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Vera Wang, Michael Kors, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Rebecca Taylor, Reem Acra, Narciso Rodriguez, Nicole Miller, Charlotte Ronson and Betsey Johnson.
Miami Beach got a little hotter this last week during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim where international designers showed off their 2012 swim collections and Mercedes gave insiders a first hand look at the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe. The 5-day invitation-only event went from July 14-18, 2011 at The Raleigh and included several well known designers including LUXE, by Lisa Vogel, Diesel, Beach Bunny Swimwear, L*Space by Monica Wise, Caffé Swimwear, Mara Hoffman Swim, Aqua Di Lara, A Ché, Natori, Cia.Marítima, and Luli Fama.
“Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim attendees can always count on seeing unique swimsuit style concepts for the first time that represent designer labels from around the world,” said Lisa Holladay, manager of brand experience marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA. “It sets the stage to premier our latest designs like the all-new 2012 C-Class Coupe to those on the cutting-edge of fashion.”
The new C-Class Coupe made a splash poolside, steps from the iconic Raleigh pool, where the fashion elite congregated during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim to see and be seen. The Mercedes C-Class coupe delivers a combination of a modern and youthful aesthetic while still offering the style and sophistication we’ve come to expect from a Mercedes-Benz vehicle. This is a design concept that captures the overall tone of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. Featuring unique compact proportions, a low silhouette and athletic lines, the C-Class Coupe is for the ambitious, ready to succeed driver. Packed with innovation, the vehicle offers a comprehensive level of driver support and protection including a number of driver assistance systems, ranging from ATTENTION ASSIST drowsiness detection to optional LANE KEEPING Assist. The C-Class Coupe’s new telematics keep the driver connected with standard wireless Bluetooth, USB interface, SIRIUS weather information and destination search via Google. There is a choice of three models, including the extremely powerful C63 AMG.
As guests entered the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim tents on 18th street off Collins Avenue in South Beach, they were greeted by the also new for 2012 SLK Roadster. As Hollywood celebrates a year of outstanding performances, Mercedes-Benz is celebrating 125 years of innovation, the invention of the automobile, and its future as leader in the automotive industry. It was Carl Benz’s patent of the automobile that occurred around the same time as the invention of motion pictures. No one knew the impact that these inventions would have on society, but now more than a century later, Hollywood and Mercedes-Benz are synonymous with glamour and luxury. Both share a rich and inspirational history together – in front of the camera and behind the scenes.

As Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week arrives to its new home at Lincoln Center, what remains unchanged is Mercedes-Benz commitment to style and luxury at one of the world’s biggest annual fashion events. Through a collaborative effort with fashion icon Iman and her new IMAN Home designs, and interiors and special events design consultant Carlos Mota, the VIP Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge is a bold design statement and sanctuary for guests taking in the latest fashion looks on the runway during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week spring and summer 2011 season.
IMAN Home designs are inspired by international locales and traditional, yet modern, crafts to bring a beautiful blend of cultural richness in the fabrics. The Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge serves as the first look at these designs from her collection, which launches in late September. “I am so excited to partner with Mercedes-Benz on this project,” said Iman. “We have worked tirelessly in preparation for the launch of IMAN Home and to have this forum, at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, is a great way to unveil the collection.” IMAN Home, in conjunction with P/K Lifestyles, a development and marketing agency specializing in decorative fabric manufacturing for a portfolio of consumer driven brands, marks Iman’s first venture into the home décor industry adding to her current businesses, which include cosmetics, fragrance, apparel and accessories.
During the course of her fourteen year modeling career, Iman graced the covers of top fashion magazines around the world and has acted as a muse to many prominent designers including Gianni Versace, Donna Karan, and Yves Saint-Laurent. On June 7, 2010, Iman was recognized for her contributions to the industry over the past thirty years by receiving the Fashion Icon Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
In conjunction with Iman’s bold décor elements, acclaimed interior designer and interiors and special events design consultant, Carlos Mota, provides his expertise and artistic direction to bring to life the 30′ by 26′ Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week lounge. “This is an exciting project for me,” said Mota. “It is great to be working with a team so attentive to detail and quality.” No stranger to the fashion community, Mota, whose friends and supporters include many NYC tastemakers and designers, takes a seemingly ordinary room inside Lincoln Center and transforms the space into a safe haven for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week VIPs. Those lucky enough to gain access to the lounge are transported to an exotic, almost tribal oasis equipped with cozy couches, chairs, daybeds, full bar and private sitting area.
The Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge is available to designers, celebrities, VIPs, media and guests, by invitation or through an access card provided by Mercedes-Benz.

As plans solidify for runway shows at Lincoln Center for the Spring 2011 Collections this September, Mercedes-Benz USA announces the renewal of its title sponsorship for Fashion Week over the next 3 years, which includes the twice annually organized Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek in New York plus Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek SWIM in Miami, both events produced by IMG Fashion.
“The industry support and innovation being utilized to transform Lincoln Center into the new home of Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek is a testament to New York City’s premier status among the greatest fashion capitals of the world,” said Stephen Cannon, vice president of marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA. “Our commitment to the event’s success will continue as we officially renew our three year agreement with IMG to remain title sponsor.”
For nearly a decade, Mercedes-Benz has supported premier fashion events that create a connection between fascinating car and fashion designs that speak to the desire for individual style. Mercedes-Benz involvement in Fashion Week dates back to 2001 and its three year commitment extends its title sponsorship through 2013.
“Mercedes-Benz commitment to the fashion industry is truly humbling,” said Peter Levy, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion Worldwide. “As a long term partner of IMG Fashion globally, Mercedes-Benz has shown a tremendous amount of vision in its support of Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek as we undertake this exciting move to Lincoln Center.”
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York draws international attention and over 100,000 visitors to New York City, including approximately 3,000 members of the press and fashion industry from around the world. IMG Fashion, The City of New York and Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) have long sought to identify a new home for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. With the support of Lincoln Center, the event will commence September 2010 at its new home in Damrosch Park on the Lincoln Center Campus. In addition to the new address, the event will unveil modernized production capabilities, digital services, better accessibility for attendees through both public and private transportation, and increased resources on-site and in the surrounding areas.
“As a leader and innovator in the auto industry it makes sense for Mercedes-Benz to be involved with the best events that allow us to create unique Mercedes-Benz experiences for our customers,” said Lisa Holladay, Manager Brand Experience Marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA. “The renewal of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week title sponsorship combined with the facilities at Lincoln Center provides a new platform to support the advanced needs of the fashion industry, while also providing additional opportunities to showcase the Mercedes-Benz brand.”
