The sporty, expressive design of the CLA and CLA Shooting Brake is now being honed still further in a facelift involving new bumpers, a diamond radiator grille in black as standard and new light-alloy wheels. The interior also benefits from numerous enhancements, among them new seat covers and trim parts, as well as chrome-plated controls. LED High Performance headlamps, HANDS-FREE ACCESS and further possibilities for integrating smartphones into the control system are all options that serve to enhance safety and comfort. The new efficiency champion is the CLA 180 d BlueEFFICIENCY Edition with an output of 80 kW (109 hp) and CO2 emissions from as low as 89 g/km. The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC Coupé and Shooting Brake models now feature even more dynamic styling and a further upgraded interior. With a peak performance of 280 kW (381 hp) and maximum torque of 475 Nm they are among the most powerful vehicles in their segment.

Just beginning to arrive in dealerships, the Mercedes-Benz CLA is Mercedes’ newest entry level model. The four-door coupe CLA is already a design leader with its aerodynamic exterior and sporty interior but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be tweaked to fit your own personal taste. We just brought you a CLA tuning program by Brabus, but if that doesn’t fit your taste, Piecha Design has also launched a modest styling package dubbed the Mercedes CLA 250 GT-R.
Piecha Design modified the CLA 250 with with a sport cosmetic kit and installed a front chin spoiler, diffuser, matte silver air splitters for the bumper, and a four-pipe exhaust system with 90mm pipes. The CLA 250 stock wheels have been removed, replaced by custom ten-spoke alloys with new tires.
The Mercedes CLA250 GT-R is only a cosmetic styling package, under the hood remains the stock 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter gas engine delivering 208 bhp (155 kW) and 350 Nm of torque, paired with a dual-clutch 7-speed automatic transmission. Top speed on the stock CLA250 is 149 mph but getting there will now sound much better on the CLA250 GT-R thanks to the new exhaust system.
April in Paris may be known to many for their cherry blossoms, I know my wife has convinced me to go on more than one occasion just to see to flowering tree. But this year, in addition to the cherry blossoms the food and the architecture that only Paris can offer, Mercedes is adding an additional reason to visit. Celebrating the market launch of their new four-door coupé, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA, Mercedes has opened a pop-up store with a unique photographic art exhibition and test drives through the city.
The digital photo installation #Untamed opened April 3 in a Mercedes-Benz pop-up store in the heart of Paris. Hundreds of personal photos taken by Instagram users from around the world are on display, all of which reflect Mercedes-Benz’ philosophy behind the CLA: unconventional, unusual and untamed. The Instagram photos show the uniqueness of human beings, how one photographers’s individual style and perspective on the world can differ so greatly from those of others. Participation is possible until April 10 with the free exhibition running until April 13, 2013. Visitors to the exhibition will be offered an opportunity to test drive the new CLA through Paris at no cost as well.
“We are absolutely thrilled by the creativity shown by internet users in interpreting the idea behind the online campaign”, commented Anders Sundt Jensen, Head of Brand Communications for Mercedes-Benz Cars. The international online campaign #Untamed was launched on the website www.untamed-installation.com by Mercedes-Benz in February. All users have been invited to upload their three most creative and unusual pictures from their personal Instagram photo stream and have them evaluated using the #Untamed Score. This indicates how unique the style of the pictures is compared with the pictures of other users. The choice of motif is again completely free. The one important thing is that the photos should not be: average. An artistic display of all the pictures submitted by April 10, 2013 is being mounted in the Mercedes-Benz pop-up store in Paris and presented to an international, art-loving public.
In addition to the Untamed exhibition all those interested can find out about the new CLA in unique surroundings. The temporary Mercedes store in the heart of Paris invites visitors to a special Mercedes-Benz brand experience on four floors.
The exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. (closed Sunday) at the Mercedes-Benz pop-up store located at 25 Boulevard des Capucines, Paris 75002.

Marking the introduction of the newest four-door Coupé, the 2014 CLA, Mercedes-Benz is launching a promotional campaign under the slogan “Untamed. The new CLA”. In addition to classic advertising mediums like print ads and TV spots, the Mercedes CLA campaign will feature an online special aimed at stimulating the creativity of participants. Marketing activities will concentrate first and foremost on the unconventional, self-assured and sporty image of the vehicle. The Mercedes-Benz CLA will be available from authorised dealers beginning April 13, 2013.

The campaign therefore puts the car in situations that can be summed up as ‘Anything but ordinary'”, according to Anders-Sundt Jensen, Head of Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars.
With the new CLA, Mercedes-Benz is introducing a four-door coupé whose sporty design and dynamic handling characteristics make it stand out from the competitive crowd. Using some surprising images, the TV spot asks how it is possible to stand out from the crowd, when so many others are also striving for individuality – the answer is provided by the new CLA. The promotional film will be showed until mid-March on all major German TV channels.
The print materials show the ‘style rebel’ from a range of perspectives. These will be appearing until mid-April in high-circulation news and business magazines, specialist motoring publications and special interest media under headings such as “Form: non-conformist” or “Untamed”.
The classic advertising measures will be complemented by an unconventional online and event format. Launching in February is #Untamed, a digital photo installation inspired by the new Mercedes-Benz CLA, for which Mercedes-Benz will be exploiting the power of the popular social media photo platform Instagram. Users will be able to go to www.untamed-installation.com and upload the most unusual images from their personal Instagram photo stream to the multivdevice-compatible CLA campaign website. On the homepage, participants will be able to see how individual their photos are, and the extent to which they stand out from the images captured by other participants. In accordance with the central theme of “The natural enemy of the ordinary”, participants will be encouraged to break free from the constraints of convention and demonstrate their creativity. A poster of the personal pictures can then be downloaded, sent by email or shared with friends via Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. This April these personal photos will then be digitally reworked and, together with the CLA, incorporated into an actual photo installation, to be presented to an international audience in Paris.
Kicking things off this morning, we’ve got the latest renderings from one of our favorite automotive manipulators, Theophilus Chin. In his latest rendering, Theophilus gives us a glimpse of what the all new 2014 CLA-Class would look like if instead it was designed as a two-door coupe. As for his choice of red paint, Chin explains that “red is an auspicious color for Chinese and today the Chinese and many East Asian celebrates Lunar New Year. And Chinese loves Mercedes-Benz too. So let me take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous Lunar New Year.”
As you’ll see in the photos, Chin did an incredible job with the rendering, creating a model that looks ready to roll of the production line tomorrow.
As for whether or not we will ever see a two-door CLA-Class, judging by Mercedes’ propensity to expand their model lineup, it’s a very real possibility. While the CLA-Class in and of itself is sporty looking as a four-door, there’s no question that younger, first time Mercedes owners would be equally (if not more) drawn to a coupe variant.
