Is there anything more exquisite than a perfect night’s rest? It’s easy to give your mattress all the credit when you sleep well, but if we’re being honest, quality sheets play an equally important part of your sleep ritual. And while it’s easy to get hung up on thread count, (i.e., the more is better mentality), quality linens with lower thread counts actually breathe better than higher thread counts, keeping your body at a more comfortable temperature while you sleep.

One of the brands we love for quality sheets and home goods is AREA. Based in New York, AREA was founded in 1990 by Swedish-born Anki Spets, who had a vision of bringing the Scandinavian tradition of good design to objects meant to be used every day. Three decades later, and AREA continues to focus on crafting original designs using natural fibers, with Anki still designing all of AREA’s pieces. Designs are meant to mix harmoniously with one another, drawing from earth tones in subtle shade variations, along with some bolder, brighter pieces. Their bedding is warm, inviting, subtle, and comfortable – everything you want in a quality set of linens.

AREA Ines Duvet

I have numerous linen pieces from AREA, but the first pieces I want to recommend are the INES Duvet cover and pillow cases. Crafted from 100% pure linen and available in white, sand or grey, I opted for white, but it’s really a light beige color with gradients that blend to earthy shades of grey and steel blue. It’s exactly the right amount of color, bright enough to add interest to your bedroom but still falling well within the realm of beautifully natural earth tones. Both the duvet and pillow cases feel amazing, with just the right amount of softness, texture and breathability. After sleeping with both, they instantly became my new favorite linen set.

AREA Eli Sheet Set

Perfectly complimenting the INES duvet and pillow cases, I also opted for the ELI sheet set in Milk. Crafted from a 55% linen and 45% cotton blend, the ELI sheets note a basketweave design with visible texture, which after washing feel beautifully soft and luxurious. Because they’re not pure linen, wrinkles are slightly smoother and the sheets have a slightly softer feel, giving you the best of both fibers in a lovely package. As for the color Milk, it’s a neutral white that’s not bright or bleached. It has a touch of grey and sand, and is a classic, wonderfully adaptable color choice.

AREA LIAM Throw Blanket

The last bedding piece I chose from AREA is the impossibly soft LIAM throw in Almond. Crafted from 100% baby alpaca fiber (baby refers to the finest, softest alpaca hairs, not the age of the animal), the LIAM throw is luxuriously soft and exceptionally warm, similar in feel to cashmere yet a more sustainable option. The throw features a short, modern eyelash fringe, and in truth, it’s one of my most beloved pieces, as I love wrapping up in the throw and curling up with a good book and a cup of tea. Available in two sizes – standard (50″ x 70″) and extra large (70″ x 90″) – the LIAM throw comes in your choice of 13 colors, all of which note beautiful natural tones that compliment AREA’s other offerings perfectly.

AREA BRUNO Clothing Rack

Aside from their linens, there’s a final piece I purchased from AREA that I wanted to mention. As the owner of a classic home with few closets, I had been searching for a clothing rack that was both functional and beautiful. While browsing their linens, I discovered that AREA makes a gorgeous clothing rack called the BRUNO. Crafted from solid American walnut with an oil finish, the BRUNO clothing rack is the perfect mix of beauty and function, fulfilling its job as a clothing rack but in a design that you actually want to show off. It’s available in two sizes – standard (W 19″ x L 30.5″ x H 60″) and long (W 19″ x L 46″ x H 60″) – and it’s really the most beautiful clothing rack I’ve seen.
