A host of upgrades are set to be added to Michael Schumacher’s car ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix in a bid to kickstart the German’s 2010 Formula One season. The Mercedes GP PETRONAS driver’s best result of the campaign so far was his sixth-place finish at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.
In a bid to improve the speed of Michael Schumacher’s MGP W01 car, the team is set to feature a host of aerodynamic upgrades. These will include a longer wheelbase to generate more front-end downforce and a change of chassis.
Mercedes GP PETRONAS Team Principal Ross Brawn said: “The one he had got damaged during the first few races and we repaired it as best we could at the races.” “But now we are back at base we are going to re-introduce the test chassis and he will be using that in Barcelona.”
Brawn added that Schumacher is not struggling to challenge at the front of the grid because of a lack of skill, but because his car is in need of tuning.
The Spanish Grand Prix is taking place on May 9th, with Schumacher finishing second the last time he took part in the race in 2006.
