You may remember earlier this year that Chinese car dealer Zhongsheng Group Holdings Ltd bought 70 percent of the shares of German tuner, Carlsson. A spokesperson of the Zhongsheng company said the reason behind the purchase was that there are so many Mercedes, BMW and Audi’s in Shanghai and Beijing that those cars sometimes feel like mainstream cars, like driving a Camry in Los Angeles.
At the time, to give the partial acquisition a bit more shine, Carlsson China announced the Carlsson CGL45 Royal Edition especially designed for the China market. Next to the aerodynamics package with an engine upgrade and an improved interior luxury this special edition received a unique color scheme.
Newly released by Carlsson, and based on the CGL45 kit, which included an engine tuning on the 3.0 liter V6 diesel that dialed up power to 310 PS (228 kW / 306 bhp) and 700 Nm of torque (516 lb-ft) from the series 265 PS (195 kW / 261 bhp) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) and for the range-topping GL 500, the V8 engine was boosted to deliver 435 PS (320 kW / 430 bhp) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft), is the CGL 45 Royal Last Edition with a bumblebee style paint job. The newly styled GL took 300 hours of labor in it and an astonishing amount of aftermarket parts. Though the GL is already outdated due to its 2013 successor, the Carlsson CGL45 Royal Last Edition will certainly not blend in with the crowd. Via: Autoblog.nl
