Mercedes-Benz unveiled the GLE Coupe approximately three weeks ago but without showing the flagship AMG version as the hottest model presented was the GLE 450 AMG. It has a twin-turbo V6 3.0-liter engine generating 367 HP (270 kW) and 520 Nm (383 lb-ft) of torque but it will be dethroned by the full-blown AMG model which according to the report will borrow the V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine from the AMG GT and C63.

There’s no word about output figures but we remind you in the AMG GT it delivers 462 HP & 600 Nm while in the AMG GT S it’s rated at 510 HP & 650 Nm. When installed in the aforementioned C63 AMG, it outputs 476 HP & 650 Nm but you can also get it with 510 HP & 700 Nm in the C63 S.

If the report is valid, Mercedes-AMG will introduce the GLE 63 AMG Coupe on January 12 during the first press day of the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. Since the regular GLE Coupe is expected to hit dealerships in the following spring, its AMG sibling should arrive shortly thereafter.
