The market launch of the EQC, the first all-electric vehicle from Mercedes-Benz, marks the Stuttgart car manufacturer’s entry into a new era of sustainable mobility. In developing the EQC, the engineering focus was not just on the innovative powertrain system, progressive design and driving dynamics, but also on configuring the electric car very consciously for everyday suitability and for long-term, hassle-free use. In line with this ambition, Mercedes-Benz is also presenting a wide range of accessory products that will make the EQC a dependable companion – for all sport and recreational activities, on vacation and anywhere one may be traveling with larger or specialist luggage items.
The luggage compartment of the EQC, with a capacity of 500 l, already has plenty of space for suitcases or sports equipment. However, there are times, especially on vacation with active kids and loads of other stuff, when this is still not sufficient. To carry bikes, tents, skis, snowboards, golfing gear or maybe a Bobby Car as well, one will need extra stowage space. And it is with precisely this sort of situation in mind that Mercedes-Benz engineers designed a roof rack specifically for the EQC. Its two customised aluminium carrier bars provide the basis for a range of load carrying systems. On the roof carrier on can fit, for example, roof boxes with a capacity of 330, 400 or 450 l, a bike rack and a ski & snowboard rack for up to six pairs of skis or four snowboards. If it’s just a question of carrying bikes, Mercedes-Benz also offers an easily accessible rear-mounted bicycle rack for the EQC, available in versions for either two or three bikes.
Whether on the roof carrier designed exclusively for the EQC or mounted on the rear, the bikes designed by FOCUS for Mercedes-Benz can be transported safely and conveniently to your vacation destination or to the starting point for your bike tour. With 27 gears, suspension fork, disc brakes and 28-inch wheels, the Fitness Bike, with its exclusively designed aluminium frame, is capable of coping with any sporting challenge. For comfortable on- or off-road touring, the Trekking Bike also features a hub dynamo, a pannier rack and mudguards.
For sports such as golf or fitness training, the EQC is also capable of carrying all the equipment you might need without any problem at all – for example the golf stand bag by COBRA for Mercedes-Benz with 14-way club divider. For carrying from one hole to the next, the bag features quick-release shoulder straps, while the EasyFlex base and automatic stand system ensure it remains steady with maximum ground contact. Various pockets and compartments as well as a towel loop make this black golf bag an indispensable partner on any course.
For fitness fanatics with a love of speed, the Mercedes-Benz Motorsport Collection offers a range of accessories in a special Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport design. The drawstring sports bag with zipped front compartment lends itself for carrying smaller items, while the sports hold-all with its sizeable main compartment, zipped front pocket and adjustable shoulder strap will also accommodate several pairs of shoes or fitness gear.
Like all fully electric vehicles, the EQC should also be charged before setting off on a longer journey. This is possible at a normal domestic power socket, but much more convenient and many times faster at the Mercedes-Benz Wallbox Home. This includes a fixed charging cable, approx. six metres in length, and has a maximum capacity of 22 kW. While the vehicle is charging, the parents can safely be loading the vehicle for a day out or vacation. The kids can do a few laps in the garage in complete safety in the sunbeam yellow Bobby-AMG GT. This great toy for kids of 18 months or over features front and rear LED lights and plastic “whisper wheels”.
An exceptional level of safety once on the road is ensured by the KIDFIX XP child seat with ISOFIT ECE for children between 3.5 and 12 years of age. The forward-facing seat becomes an integral part of the vehicle, whereby the V-shaped backrest adapts to the angle of the car seat backrest and can be adjusted to suit various sleeping positions. Extra safety is ensured by the side impact protection provided by an energy-absorbing pad that helps to reduce the physical stresses on the child in the event of a crash. Large padded side bolsters increase the level of protection further. Both the belt guide and the headrest are adjustable, ensuring that the child seat grows with the child as the years pass. If necessary, the backrest can be removed and the KIDFIX XP used as a simple booster seat. The elegant upholstery in an exclusive Mercedes-Benz design is removable and washable.
Even if man’s best friend is traveling along, he will certainly be happy about the comfortable roominess in the trunk of the EQC. On the dog cushion with a soft and dimensionally stable filling made of polyester from Mercedes-Benz by MiaCara®, the four-legged friend can either sleep while driving or enjoy the view through the rear window.
