Mercedes-Benz is stepping into the world of fully-electric SUVs with its EQC, and HYPEBEAST ZH got an up-close with the marque’s flagship model.
This EQC 400 4MATIC — which received a launch commercial starring The Weeknd — will be Mercedes-Benz’s first major attempt at delivering a fully-electric model. It takes on the likes of Tesla’s Model X, Jaguar’s I-PACE and Audi’s e-tron, aiming to dominate the market of luxury four-door EV SUVs with its meticulously engineered and archetypically minimalist German design approach.
Developers of the EQC made an all-new electric power system and battery for the SUV, providing 408 BHP and 562 lb-ft of torque. Combined, the power will propel the car from 0-60 MPH in just 4.9 seconds, continuing on to its electronically-limited top speed of 112 MPH.
Mercedes-Benz’s EQC was aimed to connect with the luxurious nature we’ve come to expect from the marque, eschewing the typical high-performance approach we see in its rival offerings. Instead, the EQC features a host of sound-proofing materials to ensure that the cabin is as quiet as possible when on the road. It’s packed with technology and captures a sleek, contemporary look that elevates the brand’s iconic design language, which can all be seen in the exclusive images above.
Elsewhere in the automotive world, Hummer could be returning with an all-electric pickup.
