The 40th MercedesCup will take place from June 9-17, 2018, on the grounds of Stuttgart TC Weissenhof. Spectators can look forward to a high-calibre lineup of participants headed by the record Grand Slam winner and Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador Roger Federer. The winner will be presented with a Mercedes-Benz CLS 450 4MATIC Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 7.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 184 g/km).
Mercedes-Benz and tennis – a link with a long tradition. For the 40th time the Stuttgart-based brand is the main and title sponsor of the MercedesCup. Numerous internationally known players have confirmed their participation. Partly because for the fourth time the matches will be played on grass and are therefore an important part of the preparations for the legendary Wimbledon.
One of the best tennis players of all time, the Swiss Roger Federer, is also returning to the grass courts of the MercedesCup. Now aged 36, he is aiming for his first victory in the north of Stuttgart in his third year of participation. “I always look forward to the grass court season. I really enjoy playing in Stuttgart. The club’s facilities are intimate and warm and the spectators are always fantastic. As a Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador, the tournament is extra fun as Mercedes-Benz is such an integral part of the week,” says the eight-times Wimbledon champion as he looks forward to playing at Stuttgart Weissenhof.
Roger Federer is regarded as a hot candidate for victory, not least in view of his wins in Melbourne and Rotterdam at the beginning of the year. In addition to prize money totalling 729,340 euros, the winner of the tournament will receive a Mercedes-Benz CLS 450 4MATIC Coupé this year. Alongside Federer, top stars such as Lucas Pouille and Hyeon Chung, as well as the top German players Mischa Zverev, Philipp Kohlschreiber and Jan-Lennard Struff will be seeking victory in the MercedesCup.
However, the focus in Stuttgart will not only be on the players: off the courts, Mercedes‑Benz will offer those attending the MercedesCup the opportunity to experience the brand. For example, they will be able to book free test drives on the Mercedes‑Benz stand – from the A-Class to AMG and smart.
