Mercedes-Benz is donating half a million euro to ‘Herzenssache e.V.’ towards projects for disadvantaged children and young people in Germany. In addition, the company is supporting ‘SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit’ with two million euro for the project ‘Rebuilding Hope in Ukraine’. In total, Mercedes-Benz’s monetary and in-kind donations for Ukraine aid this year amount to more than six million euro.
‘Mercedes-Benz’s responsibility does not end at the factory gates. With our donation to the project ‘Rebuilding Hope in Ukraine’ of SOS-Kinderdörfer, we continue our support to young people suffering because of the attack on Ukraine. But help is also needed here in the southwest of Germany: With our donation to ‘Herzenssache e.V.’, we would therefore like to make a contribution to protecting and supporting disadvantaged children and young people in the region.’
Renata Jungo Brüngger, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group for Integrity and Legal Affairs
The project ‘Rebuilding Hope in Ukraine’ focuses on psychosocial and trauma pedagogical work with children. Local support includes, for example, the construction of a family centre and a distribution point for relief and teaching supplies. In addition, teachers and other contact persons are being trained in trauma and trauma pedagogical work. As part of the project, SOS-Kinderdörfer also awards scholarships to young adults who decide to study psychology and education. The goal is to enable people in Ukraine to further expand existing capacities.
The ‘Herzenssache e.V.’ is the children relief organization from Südwestrundfunk, Saarländischer Rundfunk, as well as Sparda-Bank. It supports disadvantaged children and young people in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. To this end, the charity collects donations for selected non-profit organizations. Numerous aid projects are supported by ‘Herzenssache e.V.’, which contribute to giving orientation, support and moments of carefree childhood to socially disadvantaged or sick young people as well as children and adolescents with disabilities.
