Back in June, we brought you the first photos and details of the Mercedes A45 AMG, powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine designed specifically for the model.  It has been know for a while that a four-door coupe based on the same platform was set to go on sale next year and thanks to recent spy photos, we now know that there will also be an AMG version as well.  The four door coupe is rumored to be called the CLA Class, so for the time being, we will dub the AMG variant the CLA45.

AMG engineers have been hiding the chassis beneath the body of a B Class, though now in the very first photos of the CLA AMG, we are able see the prototypes final shape.

Based on the spy photos from GMotors, engineers at Mercedes have begun testing a CLA AMG with the same engine as the A45 AMG.  The camouflaged CLA seems to be sporting larger brakes, single exhausts which are only temporary and seen on most AMG prototypes, and lastly a lower front bumper with larger air intakes.

Power will come from a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that will deliver over 330 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Thanks to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, drive will be sent to all four wheels.  Ensuring the car also handles well, a custom sports suspension setup with independently developed front and rear axles, as well as electromechanical AMG speed-sensitive steering will be utilized.

Performance numbers of the CLA45 AMG are still just speculation but, as you’d expect from any AMG vehicle, we will not be disappointed. We will likely see a 0-60 mph time right around 4.6-5 seconds, and a top speed limited to 155 mph.

Thanks to Jack for the tip and GMotors for the photos.  Stay tuned as we will continue to bring you more photos and  information as it becomes available.
