Although you've never seen it without its masking, the Mercedes SLS AMG is a model we've come to grow intimately familiar with over the past year. First there were spy photos (and then, more and more spy photos). Then came various press releases detailing the Gullwing – some talking about its general attributes, some showing its interior and design sketches, while another detailed Mercedes' plan to introduce an electric "eDrive" version of the SLS AMG. But the one thing that we haven't seen is what exactly the SLS AMG looks like without any body masking.
Today, the Mercedes SLS AMG's exterior has finally been revealed (or should I say, leaked).
CarPoint in Australia has published the first look at the model, and it looks in many ways like you'd expect it to look after viewing the various round of spy photos. If I were to describe it, I'd describe it as... nice. It's not jaw-dropping, but it is nice.
Offering a design critique, however, I'm not at all a fan of the headlights. I would have loved to see a variant of the round headlights found on the original 300 SL Gullwing make their way onto this model as well, as opposed to the 350Z headlights it actually has. Other than that, I'll reserve judgment until I actually see the model myself.
As for your thoughts on the model, keep scrolling to view the full gallery (click any picture to enlarge) and form your own conclusions. When you're done, you can also head over to CarPoint for the full story.
Enjoy ladies and gentlemen.
