Reuters is reporting today that DaimlerChrysler's planned 8,500 job cuts at the Mercedes Car Group are well on track.
According to Guenther Fleig, Mercedes' personnel chief, "There is no indication that the program will not be successful," and noted that the 8,500 target would be easily surpassed if one extrapolated the demand so far.
Already, more than 43,000 interviews have been conducted with employees interested in the job-cutting program, and 10,000 have been interviewed more than once...

It's being reported today that Mercedes is dropping their Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) from some of their models, starting with the E-Class.
The SBC system has been a chronic thorn in Mercedes' side. Manufactured by the Robert Bosch Group, the SBC system has led to the recall of over 2 million Mercedes models (namely the E-Class),
and has played an integral part in the widespread "Mercedes' quality problems" you hear about so often.

| Brabus Unveils Smart Concept At Essen Motor Show |
| Posted on November 25, 2005 at 7:30 PM CST |

I'm pleased to anounce that I've finally awoken from my turkey-induced coma, and am suffering only a few lingering effects from my wanton gluttony.
As you all know, yesterday was Thanksgiving, but as you also know, DaimlerChrysler never sleeps. While I was feasting on grossly over-portioned amounts of turkey and stuffing,
DaimlerChrysler was hard at work releasing details of a Brabus concept car, designed to show the true potential of the smart forfour...

| Photos Of ASMA-Design's CLS Shark II |
| Posted on November 25, 2005 at 12:30 PM CST |

A while back, we brought you the first photos of ASMA-Design's new tuning package for the CLS, dubbed the CLS Shark, as well as a new tuning package for the upcoming 2007 S-Class.
ASMA's designs were both met with mixed reviews - some of you thought they'd be perfect for Glock-totin' hip-hop moguls everywhere; some of you though they'd be better suited for a Honda; and some of you actually liked the way ASMA re-styled the Mercedes.
If you're in the latter camp, you're in for a treat; if not, let the hating begin...

| Mercedes Car Group To See Record Operating Profit In 2007? |
| Posted on November 23, 2005 at 1:00 PM CST |

The psychics over at Reuters are reporting today that the Mercedes Car Group expects to generate a record operating profit of over 4.1 billion euros ($4.82 billion) in 2007, as well as a margin of 7.3 percent.
The article is actually based on information leaked by Capital magazine, who said the division's unit sales were set to climb to 1.43 million cars by then from 1.22 million last year.
The magazine also goes as far as breaking down the individual sales for each brand of the Mercedes Car Group, indicating the Mercedes-Benz brand would have a 2007 margin of 7.6 percent, while the Smart small car business would eke out an operating profit of 10 million euros after having lost 6 billion euros from its May 1995 start through to the end of 2006...

The boys over at Inside Line had a chance to sit down with Dieter Zetsche, current head of the Mercedes Car Group, and speak candidly with him about his personal feelings, love life, hopes, dreams... come on guys, this isn't Oprah.
Instead, they talked about, you guessed it, the Mercedes brand, and where it's headed in the coming years.
