Mercedes-Benz CLS Wins Best Luxury Car From Top Gear

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that's right - Mercedes has once again showed their supreme dominance in the world of automakers by obliterating their poor, feeble, helpless competitors.

Was that dramatic or what?  After writing all these Mercedes awards stories, I wanted to add a little spice to this one.

Ok - this time, I'll try it for real.

Mercedes has chalked up two more automotive awards from the BBC television show/magazine Top Gear, one for the sexy yet practical CLS four-door coupe, and one for the well-established, always-dominant S-Class.

The CLS paved the way for Mercedes in the Top Gear awards, taking top honors in the "Luxury Car of the Year" category due to its practical four-seat accommodation wrapped in a taut, beautiful bodyshell.  According to James May, one Top Gear's hosts: "To our minds, no car has ever struck the balance between capability and devil-may-care good looks quite as well as the Mercedes CLS.”

Not to be outdone by its younger sibling, the new S-Class took home "Limousine of the Year," based on its ability to set the automotive standard for quality, technology, ability and refinement.  Again, quoting Mr. May, the new S-Class was “…pushing the outside of the envelope of true repose on every conceivable level – including a fair few that the rest of us hadn’t thought of…”

And there you have it.  Two more awards, and both come as zero surprise to me.

I'll take one of each this Christmas.

You can find all the awards in Top Gear magazine's January issue, and in the meantime, you can check out a few more advance details of the awards by clicking here.
