Bloomberg is reporting today that Dr. Olaf Göttgens, Vice President Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars, may be considering a change in scenery, with the marketing maverick reportedly in agreement to take on the role of chief executive officer at the Rodenstock Group – a Munich-based eyeglass maker. As of now, however, a contract between the parties has yet to be signed, while Mercedes is rumored to still be seeking a suitable successor to Göttgens.
The story comes after an earlier article by the German newspaper Financial Time Deutschland, who cited unidentified people close to the companies as their source. Helping fuel the rumor flames, a few months ago, Bridgepoint Capital Ltd. – the private equity firm that owns Rodenstock – started a management overhaul, with a major push to expand the eyeglass maker's sales abroad.
We will of course keep you posted if any new details of Dr. Göttgens' rumored departure emerge; in the meantime, head over to Bloomberg where you can read the full gossip-packed article for yourself.
Enjoy ladies and gentlemen.
